Trent Cohen is a Senior Project Engineer with Mott MacDonald where he practices tunnel, trenchless, and geotechnical engineering. Mr. Cohen received his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley. His project experience includes the LAX Modernization Project, Metro’s Regional Connector Project, and the California High Speed Rail Project. We will be having FREE Costco Chicken Bakes for those who attend, so be sure to come out and listen to what our speaker has to talk about!

CalGeo is having their 2nd Spring General Meeting tomorrow, 4/25 in Bldg. 9-311 during U-Hour. We are pleased to announce Noah Ramos, a successful graduate from Cal Poly Pomona will be joining us as our guest speaker!
Noah Ramos graduated Cal Poly Pomona with his Master's in Civil Engineering in 2016, where he has been a staff engineer at Kleinfeld Technical Services ever since 2012. Noah Ramos's goal for tomorrow's meeting is to explain how he became a successful engineer early on and ways we can all become successful in our field of engineering. We will be serving Costco Pizza to members and guest's alike who attend out meeting! CPP GeoWall traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete at the national GeoWall competition and reached top 5 at 5th place! And this Saturday they will be competing again at the Pacific Southwest Conference at UCI between 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the Biological Sciences Plaza. Happy Spring Quarter everyone! CalGeo is having our 1st Spring General Meeting Tuesday April 11th @ U-Hour Bldg 9-311! This week we're going to talk about the officer positions up for election this quarter. These positions will be year-round for the upcoming academic year. CalGeo is a great way to gain leadership experience and get more involved in the geotechnical aspect of Civil Engineering.

Juan Carlos Velasquez is the Project Manager for the Palmdale to Burbank and Bakersfield to Palmdale sections of the 800-mile statewide California High Speed Rail program. He is responsible for the overall management of the project teams that handle planning, public outreach, conceptual and preliminary design, and the preparation of required environmental documentation. Juan Carlos has over 20 years of experience managing large infrastructure projects throughout Southern California. He has managed the preparation of corridor, feasibility and project studies, environmental reports and specification and estimates for highway, major urban transit, railroad, and complex interchange improvement projects. Juan Carlos, a registered professional engineer, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1992 from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. He has been a Board Member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and a member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has also served on the City of Pasadena's Transportation Advisory Commission. We will be having FREE In-n-Out for those who attend, so be sure to come out and listen to what our speaker has to talk about! Congratulations to CPP's GeoWall team for qualifying for the 2017 National G-I Geo-Wall Competition held at Geotechnical Frontiers on March 11-14, 2017 in Orlando, Florida! Hello all! Come on out this Tuesday Feb. 14th @ U-Hour Bldg 9-311 to our 3rd General Meeting! This week we will have Mr. Lamb from Stony-Miller Consultants as a guest speaker.
Mr. Lamb is a registered civil and geotechnical engineer in CA and has 35+ years of experience. Mr. Lamb provides clients with extensive expertise in all aspects of geotechnical engineering and has a broad range of experience on projects. Geotechnical experience includes project management, laboratory and field investigation, rock and soil slope stability analysis, pavement analysis and design, earth dams, shallow and deep foundations, tieback anchor systems, soil grouting, settlement mitigation, engineering feasibility studies, distress investigations, expert witness testimony, and grading and construction monitoring programs. We will be having FREE PIZZA for those who attend, so be sure to come out and listen to what our speaker has to talk about! Come out to CalGeo's 2nd Winter General Meeting Tuesday January 31st in Bldg 9-311! We will be collaborating with the career center to have a resume building workshop! Free Costco Pizza will be provided at the meeting so be sure to come through!
